A family friendly experience designed for all ages and geared towards aspects of mental health and wellness. Proceeds benefit WOH4L a 501c3 charity supporting Mental Health throughout Oakland County.
The Cause:
Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness. Each year we fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. With our therapists the walk was an opportunity to connect with community members, other partnering organizations as well as the animals themselves:).
In 2020, about: One in five American adults experienced a mental health issue. One in 6 young people experienced a major depressive episode. One in 20 Americans lived with a serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression.
Many factors can lead to mental illness, including genetics, physical illness or injury, and traumatic life experiences. We may face our challenges within ourselves but we don’t have to face them by ourselves.
Together, we can realize our shared vision of a nation where anyone affected by mental illness can get the appropriate support and quality of care to live healthy, fulfilling lives. Many factors can lead to mental illness, including genetics, physical illness or injury, and traumatic life experiences. We may face our challenges within ourselves but we don’t have to face them by ourselves.
Next year, look out for our booth!
